 About the Conference

The 7th International Conference on Creative Expression, Communication and
Dementia is being held at the University of Worcester, UK. on September 6 & 7, 2012,
with pre-conference workshops on September 5, 2012. The overall theme of the
conference is Health, Aging and the Creative Arts.

The conference welcomes the participation of academics, researchers, practitioners,
people living with dementia and their families. It provides an excellent opportunity for
networking, exchanging ideas and gaining insights into new trends and developments
that can improve the lives of people facing the challenge of living with dementia.

About the Presentations

We are looking for submissions related to:

1. The evaluation of creative expression programmes in dementia care
The processes that have proved successful in identifying who would benefit from
using , programs such as life review, storytelling, reminiscence, music, drama and
dancing as well as the use of specific evaluation tools to identify needs.

2. The expression of imagination and identity
How is imagination used by people living with dementia as they express their
personal, cultural and spiritual experiences? Practitioners from a wide range of
disciplines are encouraged to discuss the design and implementation and impact of
activities and programmes.

3. Raising the bar of caring within organisations
How do creative approaches and the arts enhance satisfaction, teamwork and
quality of life within care organizations? Staff and managers are encouraged to share
their innovative solutions, programs and achievements.

Presentation Formats

• Conference Presentation: 25 minutes presentation followed by 5 minutes for
  questions.
• Panel Symposium: up to 3 presenters on a particular theme chaired by a fourth
  person for 60 minutes.
• Poster Presentation: Informative innovations presented in poster format. Size 90 cm in width by 120 cm in length.

To Present at the Conference

• Select one of the conference themes
• Select a presentation format
• Submit an abstract of up to 200 words
• Include presenters’ names
• Include short biographies of presenters up to 50 words
• Register for the conference (Starting March 15, 2012)

Important Notes:

1. Submit only names of presenters who plan to attend the conference
2. All presenters and participants must register for the conference
3. Please make your submission electronically in MS Word Format (97 Version or later)
4. Closing date for submissions is May 1, 2012 at midnight. Successful presenters will be informed of decision by May 31, 2012
